My original artwork this week is inspired by some of the things I've been seeing in the news in the wake of the great populist-MAGA victory. In response to the Trump-led ascendency, it seems that elite progressives on the Left and imperialist neocons on the Right have joined together to form what they now call the "Resistance." The "High-and-the-Mighty" are "protesting" and "manning the barricades!" But my question is simply this: "WHAT, exactly, are they 'resisting?'" The popular will of traditionally-minded, working-class Americans? As I thought about the farcical nature of all of this, I draw upon this analogy: suppose, during the French Revolution of 1789, instead of the poor and working-classes taking to the streets protesting against the greed & corruption of the decadent Aristocracy, the situation would have been reversed... Suppose Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, and the corrupt royal court would have taken to the streets, protesting against the common people! An ABSURDITY--yet, this is precisely what we are seeing today, as Pelosi wrings her pearls and Jimmy Kimmell weeps like a little girl on national television. The powdered wig set, with their silk & satin garments, ivory snuff boxes, and silver buckles are taking to the streets, storming the Bastille and protesting against the deplorable peasantry! You can't make this stuff up; it's all too rich! By the way, L to R: Oprah, Obama, Pelosi, Liz Warren, Newsom, & Hillary. I wish I could have got Liz Cheney in there!
